What is per diem?
Per diem is the daily lodging and meals allowance tied to a travel destination and date.
What does lodging cover?
Lodging covers the nightly room rate portion of an official per diem allowance.
What does M&IE cover?
M&IE covers meals and incidental expenses, including the first/last-day partial allowance rule.
Why do rates change by location?
GSA publishes destination-based rates, and some non-standard areas also change by season.
How do first and last travel days work?
The calculator applies your configured partial-day percentage, defaulting to 75%.
