QUALITY INSPECTOR – BESS / RENEWABLE ENERGY
We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector with BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) experience to support utility-scale renewable energy and electrical construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience inspecting electrical installations, BESS equipment, and construction activities while ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and according to project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily quality inspections of BESS and electrical construction activities.
- Inspect installation of battery systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, cable tray, conduit, grounding, and terminations.
- Verify workmanship against approved drawings, specifications, ITPs, and project requirements.
- Conduct visual inspections and document deficiencies, punch-list items, and corrective actions.
- Review electrical installations for proper routing, labeling, connections, torque, and workmanship.
- Inspect cable pulling, terminations, grounding/bonding, and equipment installation.
- Maintain accurate inspection reports, checklists, photographs, and quality documentation.
- Coordinate with electricians, foremen, QA/QC personnel, engineers, and project management to resolve quality issues.
- Identify non-conforming work and follow through with corrective actions.
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities as required.
- Ensure all work meets applicable electrical codes, safety requirements, and project standards.
Requirements
- Previous BESS / Battery Energy Storage System experience
- Electrical construction or QA/QC inspection experience
- Experience with utility-scale solar, substations, or renewable energy projects
- Ability to read electrical drawings, one-lines, schematics, and equipment layouts
- Knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electrical systems
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- OSHA and/or electrical safety training preferred
