Job Description
Experienced Boilermaker needed for a project in Columbus, GA with a strong background in fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair of steam-generating boilers and associated boiler tube systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise working with high-pressure boilers, tube rolling, welding, and boiler inspections, ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assemble, install, maintain, and repair steam-generating boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and related equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical manuals
- Lay out, position, align, and secure components prior to assembly
- Cut, shape, and fit metal components to construct and repair boiler tubes, drums, and headers
- Perform tube removal and tube replacement in boilers
- Use torches, welding equipment, and cutting tools for fabrication and repair
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and work performed
- Inspect boiler systems for cracks, leaks, corrosion, and other defects
- Conduct hydrostatic and pressure testing on repaired and newly installed systems
- Preheat if necessary using hand torch or heating furnace
- Work in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions
- Work in confined spaces and at heights using a sky climber
- Adhere to OSHA, ASME, and company safety standards
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other skilled trades to complete projects efficiently
- Respiratory protection is common and may be required
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience with steam-generating boilers, boiler tubes, and pressure vessels
- Strong knowledge of boiler tube installation, rolling, expanding, and welding techniques
- Familiarity with ASME codes, standards, and power plant safety procedures
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Skilled in using grinders, torches, hydraulic tube expanders, and pneumatic tools
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in hot environments
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and mechanical aptitude
- Must be willing to work outside craft
- Must wear safety gear including protective goggles, masks, face shields, and safety shoes
- Must be able to climb, bend, twist, stand, and reach repetitively in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
- Must be at least 18 years of age and able to lift 50 pounds
- 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work
- Background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements
